Up to now, it is common to see hawkers  selling these sweet delicacies in the streets of Beijing.   <p>Wang Hong Chuan has created this limited edition paper cut specifically for the Year of the Sheep. The peony flower is also a Chinese symbol for the spring season. This pattern of flowers is referred to in Chinese as ding peng hua. It's a real leaf from a tree.  This specific leaf is from the Ginkgo Biloba Tree. Chinese Folk Artists use small brushes to create detailed renditions of flora, fauna and landscapes on these small dried leaves.  This leaf painting is given the title "Shuang Li Tu". Translated in English, it simply mean "Image of Two Carps". Carps are an auspicious symbol for success in business. This leaf watercolor painting is already mounted and ready for framing.   This is a watercolor painting done by a Chinese peasant artist .  Chinese Peasant Paintings are done by Chinese farmers and rural folk who were given training on Chinese painting. They then evolved their own style called Nong Min Hua, which in english means Peasant Painting.  They draw what they typical see in their life in the rural setting. This particuar art work  shows a woman sun drying the day's catch of fish. It is painted on rice paper and mounted with a framed border so it is ready for framing. The artwork has the signature of the peasant artist plus the year he made the painting.
